What's the admission policy of St-Michaels?

Ans.

Admission for Lower Nursery:
Admissions forms are given to pupils who have attained the age of 3 1/2 to 4 years.

Admission for other Classes:
Admission to other classes will take place in the beginning of the academic year, and if a vacancy occurs.

The school only deals with parents of the child & not with any other parties in the case of admissions and all other school matters.

What's the admission requirement of St-Michaels?

Ans.

For Lower Nursery:
The original birth certificate issued by any Municipal Corporation / Cantonment Board along with Photostat copy thereof must be presented at the time of collecting the registration form.

For other Classes:
A student selected for admissions to class II and upwards must produce a leaving certificate from the school last attended before the admission is finalized.

When does St-Michael's open admission for upper nursery & lower nursery?

Ans. The admissions for morning shift opens in the first week of January, while for afternoon shift in the 1st week of June.

What are the admission requirements for 'A' level?

Ans. Admission is based purely on merit. A student who has passed G.C.E ‘O’ Level Overseas Examination of the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate for International Examinations or an equivalent examination of any other recognized examining body are qualified to apply for admission.

Merit will be evaluated on the basis of past academic records (Prelims included), previous school recommendations and the ‘O’ Level results.

In order to qualify for admission a student must have a passing grade in at least six ordinary level subjects and a minimum ‘C’ grade in English Language.

No applicant may claim the right of admission to the ‘A’ Level by the mere fact that he has appeared for the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination from St. Michael’s Convent School.

Does St-Michael's have any international affiliation or collaboration?

Ans. St- Michael's is affiliated with the Cambridge University , UK for 'O' Level GCE & 'A' Level having the Cambridge registration No. PK 508.

What's the procedure of submitting schools' fee or other dues?
Ans. All dues may be paid by cross cheques, or in cash, but deposit only in FAISAL BANK, Clifton branch, Karachi through fee slips issued by the Fee Office.
All fee Slips will be distributed to the school, latest by the date given below:

1st Qtr. (July-Sept) - with report cards.
2nd Qtr. (October-December ) - by first week of October.
3rd Qtr. (January-March) - by first week of January.
4th Qtr. (April-June) - by first week of April.

School fee should be paid promptly and in no case later than the dates given against each of the following quarters :
1st Qtr. (July-Sept) - On or before 31st July.
2nd Qtr. (October-December ) - On or before 31st October.
3rd Qtr. (January-March) - On or before 31st January.
4th Qtr. (April-June) - On or before 31st April.

What's the assessment procedure for the students through out the year?

Ans. During the year there are regular monthly assessments , a semester exam and a final examination. In case of absence no re-test/exam will be given.

What are the facilities provided by St-Michael's?

Ans. Some of the facilities provided by the school are:
- Library:
The school library remains open on all School days, Saturdays, summer holidays and winter vacations except public holidays and other holidays as notified by the Government from time to time. All the course books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, novels, magazines, news papers, story books, prospectuses of different universities, reference books as well as internet facilities is available with library.

- Laboratories:
The school has separate & fully equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

- Computer labs:
There are five well maintained labs for Primary, Lower Secondary, 'O' Levels, 'A' Levels and ITRC (Virtual University) students, with ISDN line for internet access.

- Medical:
St-Michael's possesses a medical room with a doctor & nurse which are available for first aid and emergency. Medical examination of the students is also conducted.

- Sports facilities for cricket, football, volley ball, base ball, table tennis, badminton.

What are the extra-curricular activities for students of St-Michael's?

Ans.St-Michael's conducts many co-curricular activities from time to time. Parents are requested to encourage their children to take part in them. Some of the co-curricular activities includes Sports including the annual sports day per year which is being held with great zeal & enthusiasm, inter schools competitions of sports, different other sports events ,quiz competitions, dramas, art exhibitions, debates, scouting etc.

How to contact a teacher or the administration?

Ans. If you wish to contact a teacher please send your email to the email address of school i.e. smcs@st-michaels.edu.pk with the subject "For <'Name> " ( Name of the teacher you wish to send email ). The email will be delivered to the respective teacher. For contacting the administrations send your email on same email address with the relevant subject.

Does St-Michael's offer any summer vacations' program?

Ans. Yes, St-Michael's offers summer programs which include summer program for sports, extra classes are held of various subjects, variety of computer courses are conducted by ITRC.

Can a teacher give private tuition to students after school hours?

Ans. The school authorities strongly discourage the indiscriminate engaging of private tutors. No private tutor should be engaged from the school without the prior written permission of the Coordinator/Principal.
No teacher shall act as a tutor of a pupil of their own class unless prior permissions of the Coordinator/Principal has been obtained in writing.

What are the requirements for obtaining a leaving certificate on withdrawal from St-Michael's?

Ans. The intended withdrawal of the students should be notified in writing by parents/guardians one month before in advance, or one month's fee will be charged in lieu of notice. A leaving certificate will be not be issued until all the school dues are paid. A student applying for leaving certificate before summer vacation will have to clear their dues for the vacations month as well.

On which conditions does school struck off any students name?

Ans. Any student absent from school for one calendar month without a letter explaining his/her absence will be liable to be struck off the rolls. Such a student may be re-admitted later, if there's a vacancy, on payment of a fresh admission fee. The students whose names have been struck off just one month before summer vacations will have to clear their dues for the vacations months if a leaving certificate is to be issued.

A student who fails second time in the same class will be asked to leave the school. As the school upholds respect respect for lawful authority as a basic principal is education, any student taking part in a strike, procession or other public demonstration not countenced by the school authorities will be dismissed forthwith. The decision of the Principal in this connection will be final.

What the are the school timings for morning and afternoon shifts?

Ans.

Morning shift:
From 7:45 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. (1:15 p.m. for classes above class VIII)

Afternoon shift:
From 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (5:30 p.m. for classes above Class V).

Note: The school will at all times posses the power and authority to amend/and/or/ add any new rule(s) as may be deemed expedient by it without any notice, either prospectively or retrospectively.
