Scrabble Competition Feedbacks

1. Feedback by Zehra Ilyas, XI- B

Taking part in the PSA inter school competition was an enlightening experience, one which I am not likely to forget. We were just glad to be representing our school and taking part in such a great event. When we went there, we were really nervous as we had to compete with almost other 90 schools which included the prestigious and reputed schools of Pakistan. So wining the championship was totally unexpected. It was a combine effort of my time members and myself, prayers and encouragement from Mr. Christopher. I was also impressed by how organized everything was. We got a chance to play and interact with extremely talented players which taught us a lot. All in all, I enjoyed myself very much and am happy to make our school proud of us.

P.S. A word of advice to our future scrabble team would be to take chocolates with them because energy level tends to decline after 5/6 hours of scrabble.

2. AND THE WINNER OF THE FIRST POSITION I S ……………..by Swaleha Khalid

“If your goals are realistic
You can achieve anything……………………..”

The day was 16th August 2009. I was very much excited being chosen for scrabble tournament along with two other schoolmates. When I entered the Beach Luxury Hotel, I was overwhelmed to see the crowd, which consisted of 90 schools. My enthusiasm knew no bounds when Mr Chritospher told me that the tournament would start in few minutes. Before this great day, I had practiced a lot with my parents and siblings but looking at so many participants I was a bit nervous in the beginning. My aim that day was to get the trophy for the school and make my school feel proud amongst so many hurdles. My parents always inspired me by saying, “You don’t know what you can do until you try”.
Finally the game started. My opponents were from The CAS School. She started the move and seemed very confident. But eventually the ball was in my court. During the fourth game, I was paired against Lalarukh of class VII in Mama Parsi School. She had made 167 points in one move previously; hence I got unnerved seeing her as my opponent. However, luck was on my side and I won by 1 point.
After wining four consecutive games in a row, I was on cloud nine. Even my schoolmates had won the entire games. The fifth game was to be a tie breaker between us and the Ladybird Grammar School. During the last few minutes, my heart was pounding and it was a very close match. Till the end, nobody could judge who would win. A successful man is one who can lay the foundation with the bricks that others throw at him. Finally our names were announced as the first position holders of the Inter School Scrabble Championship 2009. We all were exhilarated and we extend our thanks to Mrs. Naiyer for allowing us to take part in the first place and to Sir Christopher, without whose motivation and calm attitude, we could not have succeeded to work as a great team.

Thank You

3.
Feedback of the scrabble Tournament

This scrabble tournament was held on Sunday, the 16th of August 2009. 90 schools had participated and Saint Michael’s was one of them. Me and my other two friends were chosen as the representatives of Saint Michael’s and their names were Swaleha Khalid and Zehra Ilyas. It just when we entered the grand Jasmine Hall of the Beach luxury Hotel, we were very nervous and scared! But due to the constant support of Mr. Irfan and Sir Christopher we got a lot of encouragement and strength not just to play, but to win this tournament and make our school proud! The other schools that we played with were CAS, Lady Bird, Lady Bird Grammar school, Saint Josephs and Mama Parsi. Just two matches were easy, but as we went forward, the level of difficulty increased but with high hopes and a positive attitude we proceeded further. Each match was of 50 minutes and after every match there was a break so that we could rest a bit! After all five matches we were all relieved but still scared about the result! When finally the result was announced that moment was sensational! The pride on our faces, and the happiness that glowed! Everything was just unbelievable.
This experience was the best experience of my life and I hope that every year Saint Michael’s gets better and mare successful!
