GENERAL SCIENCE PROJECT WORK (STUDENT’S VIEW)

GENERAL SCIENCE PROJECT WORK (STUDENT’S VIEW)

The teaching methodology of every school is different from the other. Every teacher has their own way of teaching. Some teachers make their students memorize the books while others make them understand.
In our school, the teachers first try to clear our concepts, then make us learn the lesson and turn to make sure that we have got it, try make us present those topics
practically in forms of modules and multi media presentation.
I think this is a very productive way of expressing our knowledge. This shows our vision and imagination. Especially in subjects like Science and Geography, there is a need of practical
demonstration to show our understanding level.
In St. Michael's Convent School, more priority is given to project work than to put burden on students and tell them to write pages and pages on some boring topic. This creates
a plot of pressure on the minds of students and they end up bringing notes by their parents to extend the deadline for submission of written work.
So, to reduce this pressure, our Science Teachers made us do an interesting activity recently. We had to make projects on the topic: Forms of Energy. Everybody came up with
innovative ideas and marvellous models. We were free to choose any topic of energy, eg, heat energy, light energy or wind energy, etc.
I chose the topic: Energy Conversion. I made a circuit using two batteries, wires, a switch and a bulb. I assembled the things orderly on a thermapol sheet. I showed the energy conversion
in the following way:
Chemical Potential energy------heat energy------light energy
(of battery) (of wire) (of bulb)
I really enjoyed doing this project and I'm sure that other people definitely would have enjoyed too. This kind of activities should be encouraged because it provides
a lot of enthusiasm in the students. They make an attempt to show their skills. It also builds up confidence of shy and reserved students. They come
forward and with them, their hidden talent gets recognized. Not only science, but there should be projects for every other subject also so that the students do not take it as a burden, but rather do it
as a fun activity. We learn a lot by doing practical and creative work.

St- Michael's Convent School is an institute that not only provides good education, but also tries its best to mould its students to be in a position to make choices in their adult lives.
The institute also encourages the students to take part in extra curricular activities such as sports, gaming competition, etc.
The teachers of this school are always willing to help their students. They are always there to guide their students. Their way of teaching is different from other schools’ conventional methods. We also get assignments
and projects that are very interesting and we enjoy doing them.
I would tell you about the Science Project we recently got in this class. It was a very interesting project and the topic was about Energy. All the students took active part in it and put their efforts in making the best project.
However, all the projects were very good and it was difficult to choose any one of the project from all of them. The teachers had also managed an exhibition for it.

Teaching in our school seeks to satisfy the inquisitive mind of students by encouraging interaction with the environment outside the classroom, Through experiments based on real life, our teachers demonstrate the relevance of
our studies in our everyday life.
Time and again, we are required to attend multimedia presentations to clear our concepts. In addition, the idea of constructing models has also been integrated into the curriculum to enhance our skills. These problem solving strategies prepare students to face challenges.

Teachers of this school have been of great help throughout the past years that I have spent in this school. In my last few years spent at this school, teachers have been tremendous, not only in terms of explanation of the entire course, but also in the of kindness, they
have extended towards the students. Whenever I require any help, the teachers are more than welcome to tutor me after school hours, giving individual attention which indeed has improved my understanding of subjects and made me able to score better in all examinations.
Besides this, they have really been helpful when it comes to revision of the chapters, which were a bit unclear or I had missed due to absence.
Other than that, it was a pleasant surprise not only to me, but also for the teachers of Class VIII as well when the Science Teachers arranged a project session on the topic ‘Energy’. More than 190 models were submitted. It was a great decision by our science teachers as they were able to see our artwork
as well.
Thus, the teachers of St. Michael's Convent School are the best teachers have ever come across.

St. Michael's is a prestigious institution which emphasizes highly not only on excellent academic performances, but also on the mental and physical stimulation of its students achieved primarily through extra curricular activities.
Our model exhibition presented by the students of 8th grade was one such activity. The purpose behind it was to encourage the creativity and artistic potential of the students and to enable them to realize the practical applications of the topics they cover in science as a subject.
The main theme was basically about the forms and transformation of energy. Many projects involved wind energy and the generation of electricity. A volcano project which used baking soda
and vinegar to trigger an explosion was appreciated by everyone.
In conclusion, science exhibitions are fruitful in cultivating a deeper understanding of the specific topic students are assigned as a project.
