Vision ‘A’ Levels
St Michael’s embraces a vision of its founder leader Bishop Anthony Lobo. The motto of the school is ‘education for all’. Keeping in mind this ideal St Michael’s stresses on the 3 A’s.: Academics-Achievement-Affordability
Academics– — ‘Wisdom begins in wonder.’ [Socrates]
Academics is simply not just a focus on grades or subjects offered or teacher/student ratio or a great faculty but a focus on the spirit of education. It embodies the enhancement of the human spirit and mind, the good mind which in turn leads to the development of a motivated, righteous and balanced human being. It caters to the passions, interests and the aptitude of each and every student, focuses on their development and gives them the opportunities to further their ideas, their aims and aspirations and directs them through the choppy waters of fact finding to a holistic understanding of what civic duties entails.
Achievement– -‘Spectacular achievement is always preceded by unspectacular preparation.’ [Robert H.Schuller]
Achievement entails both personal and professional criteria and embodies the spirit of working in the real world and not the ‘reel’ world of the classroom. As students interact with each other from all walks of life in the educational setting, they acquire what is common to the Michaelian: emotional intelligence (what a layman will state as being street smart). It is this quality that gives our students the edge in the working environment, in their careers later on, as their level of adaptability, humility and their risk taking surpasses many others who find the challenges of the real world too difficult to handle. Thus St Michael’s boasts of students who have not been only academically sound but have managed to place their mark in the tangible working world. From the inception of the A levels in January 1987, St Michaels can rightfully boast of students having achieved land mark positions in all walks of life for every decade of its existence.
Affordability– -‘An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.’ [Benjamin Franklin]
Affordability is a basic criterion of education the world over. Many students do not have the advantage of acquiring a high school Cambridge certificate due to the high cost of A Level education. St Michaels boasts of not only having a lower fee structure than many institutions in Karachi but also provides scholarships to academically sound students. With no compromise on the quality of A Level education, St Michael’s hopes to instill in students a sense of integrity, justice and nobility of character (the essence of convent education) with motivation and passion to excel.
